The Process
After viewing and deciding on property preference, the vendor is presented with your offer. You are brought into contact with a lawyer to assist you with opening a Greek bank account and obtaining a Greek tax number. Without them the purchase cannot move forward.
The lawyer will also do a thorough title check on the property in question to ensure that all is legal and there are no unforeseen issues. Usually a 20% deposit is required if the final completion process is going to be a set date rather than an immediate buy after all paperwork is processed. You should to take into consideration the extra fees on top of the purchase price.
